Modular bridges
Nowadays slender structures fulfill an important role, this is the reason why material properties become more and more important. One of the possibilities to make structures slender is the usage of fibre reinforcement ultra high performance concrete.
FDN Engineering developed a modular bridge design of a fibre reinforced ultra high performance concrete. One of the reasons to make this design is the need to replace old existing timber bridges in different places in the Netherlands. The expectation is that the fibre reinforced ultra high performance concrete safes money on long terms.
The connection between the elements will take place via prestressing cables. Because the bridge is modular, it can be build flexible and quickly. The lightweight structure will also reduce the transportation costs.
